AIMdefense Unifi Migration Guide

To ensure a smooth migration, carry out the following points:

Step 1: Create and save a backup in the Unifi Controller (Unifi interface).

Step 2: Log in to the FW as root.

Step 3: Stop the service:

Step 4: Create a backup of the data folder, the folder can be found under this path:

Step 5: Uninstall Unifi:

Step 6: Run autoremove to remove Unifi dependencies as well (they will all get a new version):

Step 7: From here the migration and update process can be started.

Step 8: As soon as at least version 24.1.8 of the AIMdefense has been reached, the Unifi module can be reinstalled:

Step 9: Then move the backup from the data folder back to its original location.

In the firewall config – path: /conf/config.xml – check whether is_default is set to 0 in the unifi section!

In the restored unifi data backup folder, in this file – system.properties – also check whether is_default is set to false.

Step 11: Start the unifi service.

Step 12: Open the Unifi Controller as usual and, if necessary, import the backup from step 1 – please keep the AIMdefense interface open during this process and simply restart it as soon as the Unifi service has been stopped.

Continue to wait, the page will load the usual login interface after importing the backup.
